Restore is the main protection feature of CUSTODIUS and it entails restoring the system to the same settings as configured by the Administrator.

CUSTODIUS has two access modes:

ADMINISTRATOR.- Can make changes

USER.- Can NOT make changes.

HDD02

When installing CUSTODIUS, the hard drive can be empty or it can already have programs installed.

During the install, it can create different partitions for different operating systems if so desired. A working partition, called a Buffer, is generated along with each partition.

It is also possible to create data partitions for permanently storing your important information.

In the protected mode (user), the system will function as follows:

1.- The user starts up the Operating System and opens an application program.

2.- Custodius accesses the real partition that it is protecting.

3.- It takes the system and software program contents and loads these in to the BUFFER.

4.- From this point forward, the user will be working in the buffer. Any data that the user would like to keep can then be stored in the data partition.

When restarting the system (or during a system restart at a selected restore time), Custodius “cleans” the Buffer. No changes that had been made by the user will remain on the protected partition (no viruses, no attacks, no reconfigured settings that cause corruption and no unwanted software installs…)

If you would like to keep the files that you created as the user, just press Ctrl+B on the start menu and enter the Backup key code.  Another way of keeping any changes is to restart the system as an Administrator (Password).

Besides protecting the hard drive, Custodius can also protect the BIOS configuration (CMOS) on the PC’s mother board. If the restart detects that this data has been modified, it will restart the system and default back to the data changes made by the Administrator..
